Yellowstone Hiking – Cascade Lake and Elephant Back

I wanted to head out early to hike, but actually had to wait for it to warm up a little so I didn’t have to take a coat. 42 had been forecast, but it was 37 degrees when I got up. Since it was nearby I spend some time on the North Rim of the Canyon.

Cascade Lakes

No wildlife (lots of scat), just a peaceful morning walk back to the lake.

Elephant Back

It was an 1100 climb to the top on very dry, dusty trails and I honestly thought I wasn’t going to make. These were miles 8 to 12 of the day. All this to see a partially obstructed lake of Yellowstone Lake.

July 14th was the most miles I had done in one day. The phone shows trail steps only, where the watch shows all steps and miles walked during the day. I took pictures to commemorate the day.
