Smoky Tetons

I stayed at the Gros Ventre campground one night. The views of the Tetons were not great due to the smoke blowing in from other areas. I’m not complaining since we’ve not had any big fires. Driving over to Antelope Flats I was lucky enough to see a moose cow and her twin calves. Can […]

National Wildlife Art Museum

If you’re in the Jackson, WY area this is a gorgeous place to visit. My favorite part was the Invisible Boundaries exhibit that is about the elk migration in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. The video from the exhibit can be see here: https://video.nationalgeographic.com/video/short-film-showcase/take-an-epic-journey-with-the-elk-of-yellowstone?source=searchvideo Photos from the Invisible Boundaries exhibit

Moose Ponds in GTNP

The Moose Ponds trail runs south of Jenny Lake to a couple of small ponds that I visited in hopes there would be moose around. I wasn’t disappointed — a cow and her calf were there. The calf disappeared in a shady spot to nap while mom munched away at vegetation on the bottom of […]

Grand Teton National Park – detailed drive

Since I was transferred to the Jackson Visitor Center I thought I better get a far more detailed view of Grand Teton National Park so I stopped at every single thing that I haven’t stopped at on previous trips. The day started out stormy, cleared to glorious and ended with monsoonal rain when driving out […]

Yellowstone National Park – Day 3 West Thumb, etc

Pumice Point on Yellowstone Lake West Thumb I had been all that excited about seeing West Thumb and ended up absolutely loving the area. The whole idea of steaming pool right next to and even in Yellowstone Lake was amazing. The combination made for stunning views. The water was so clear. Hot water escaping into […]

Yellowstone National Park – Day 3 Grand Canyon

After a failed attempt to see the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone the day before, I was up and on the road early. Falls from Artist’s Point The sun wasn’t fully on the falls yet. I was disappointed the Uncle Tom’s Trail and Inspiration Point were both closed (looked like they had been since 2017 […]

Yellowstone National Park – Day 2 Tower area

My plan was to head back to see Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, but made stops along the way. As it turned out the Grand Canyon area was so jammed I couldn’t get in anyway. Decided to see it bright and early the next day. Bear in the Tower area. Calcite Hot Springs Alpine wildflowers […]

Yellowstone National Park – Day 2 Mammoth

From Lamar Valley I headed over to Mammoth and was lucky enough to see a black bear up in a meadow. Stopped at Undine Falls. Mammoth Hot Springs Not my favorite part of Yellowstone, but glad I saw it for myself. When I was headed back to the truck there was an elk cow resting […]

Yellowstone National Park – Day 2 Lamar Valley

Lamar Valley deserves it’s own post. It was gorgeous and the wildlife was spectacular. I don’t know about anybody else, but when a bison gets up on the road, stops, and glares at my vehicle it makes me nervous. The bison look a little scruffy because they haven’t lost all of their winter coats. Valley […]

Thomas Elton Tape Transcription – Tape 1 Side 1

Childhood through Great Depression (approx 1896 to 1932) Preface: My grandfather and grandmother homesteaded in North Dakota in the early 1900’s. I adored my grandma and grandpa. Grandpa was born in 1888 and grandma in 1893. Unfortunately grandma died when I was 5 years old, but grandpa lived to be 97. By 1980 he was […]

Flagstaff Travel Trailer Floor Replacement

Since the floor softening issue is so common I wanted to write about my experience getting the floor replaced in my 2017 Flagstaff Micro Lite 25BHS. My apologies for the length. Realizing there was a problem For about 3 years everything sounded fine when I walked around. Then when I stepped certain places the cabinets […]

Flagstaff Travel Trailer Fresh Water Tank Support

There’s an easy solution to the poorly supported fresh water tanks put on so many travel trailers. When the factory has a note in the manual that the trailer should never be moved with water in the tank, they know how puny the support it. I had only filled my water tank one time and […]

Flagstaff Broken Couch Frame Repair

I was aware the back left seat corner of the couch in my travel trailer was broken almost from the time I got it. It was on my list when I went back to the dealer for warranty work. I should have known I was in trouble when they said they’d have to check with […]

Flagstaff TT Murphy Bed Repair

I read about various problems with the Murphy beds in Forest River travel trailers. The aluminum frame that supports the bed seems to be alright, but after 5 years of constant use the piano hinge connecting it to cabinet unit was separating on the left side. It started out small and gradually grew to over […]

The Year of COVID-19

It was a year of isolation, but also injuries. I am so thankful I had made the decision to get a dog in October 2019. In lockdown, isolation, and injury Zoey was my saving grace. Getting out to walk her was a sanity keeper, but not being able to walk her was kind of tough […]
