Crater Lake

I wanted to get to Crater Lake before it got snow so when the forecast was for clear skies I went on October 14, 2018.I took a different way there and back through the Cascades and while the constant curves and the needed concentration were tiring, it was absolutely beautiful.

I should have checked the forecast more closely. At elevation the temperature was barely above freezing and the winds had to be gusting to 50 MPH. When I stepped out of the vehicle I felt like I was being sand blasted. The volcanic area had a lot of grit and sand to blow around. One time I could not pull the truck door closed. My contact lenses were not doing well. With the wind I wasn’t dressly anywhere near warm enough.
