Savannah to Dallas

I I left Fort Pulaski March 11th and felt like it was a good omen when there was a double rainbow as I crossed the bridge leaving Wilmington Island.

I finally stopped making travel a beating whenever possible and decided to take 3 days to get to Dallas.

A Stone’s Throw RV Park

The first stop was in Lamont, FL at A Stone’s Throw RV Park. It’s a very small park and it was full the night I stayed there. Despite being right on the highway it wasn’t noisy at night. I liked that it was within walking distance of fast food restaurants. The bathrooms were okay, but the site wasn’t terribly level.

Rainbow Plantation Summerdale, AL

Since I’m an Escapee member I decided to spend a week near Fairhope, AL. I enjoyed the area but the Gulf Shores area is a madhouse. Fairhope is laid back and there was outlet shopping not too far away.

Ameristar Casino Vicksburg

I had a hard time finding the actual RV park. The sites are crammed together pretty tight, the bathrooms are nice, and a shuttle was provided to go to the casino. I thought it would be fun to go get dinner there until I was slammed with a wall of cigarette smoke. Then I saw that a hamburger was $14 so I caught the first shuttle back to my trailer. This is convenient since it’s right off the highway and okay for an overnight, but I wouldn’t want to stay here longer since I don’t gamble.

On to the Dallas area where I was lucky enough to get into my favorite RV campground.
