Trip from Maine to Savannah Fall 2017

I took my time getting from Acadia down to Savannah. I was blessed with clear skies and no wind for the entire trip. It was awesome to drive in such nice conditions after battling torrential rain and side winds most of the way up to Maine.

Acadia campsite before leaving October 18th. Not it was still warm enough to have the screen door open.

First stop was at Schodack Island State Park in New York.

I drove through Shenandoah National Park.

I stopped at Peaks of Otter on the Blue Ridge Parkway for a couple days and (despite negative reviews) loved it. My first time to dry camp and I just reverted back to camping equipment by digging out my Jetboil to cook with and my collapsible water jug. When I arrived another single female camper helped me get the camper leveled. I would recommend driving around and selecting a site since some of them aren’t to level. Two days unplugged, hiking, and chatting with neighboring campers was great. The otters were pretty cute.

I went to the lodge for breakfast one morning and had the best experience. The restaurant was set up for 2 tops and 4 tops parallel to the view. The host took me to a 2 top and turned my chair facing the view of the lake. He was so sweet. And then the waitress provided the best service and wonderful food. If you’re camping at Peaks of Otter you need to try the lodge for breakfast.
